    Michael Oher Biography

    Michael Jerome Oher (born May 28, 1986) is a former American football offensive tackle who played for the Baltimore Ravens in the National Football League (NFL) for eight seasons.

    He was drafted by the Ravens in the first round of the 2009 NFL Draft after playing college football in Mississippi and earning unanimous All-American accolades. He also spent time with the Tennessee Titans and the Carolina Panthers.

    Michael’s life from his senior year of high school to his freshman year of college is one of the subjects of Michael Lewis’s 2006 book The Blind Side: Evolution of a Game, which was adapted into the Academy Award-winning 2009 film The Blind Side.

    Oher earned scholarship offers from schools such as Alabama, Auburn, Tennessee, South California, and Louisiana State, but he decided to play for the “University of Mississippi,” where he was coached by Ed Orgeron.
